| A private equity club, Champion Hills began in 1988 as a local venture by a small group of investors who believed this unique corner of Western North Carolina could yield an amazing golf experience.
Tom Fazio, renowned golf architect, was so inspired by the land that he joined the project as both designer and investor in 1989. In 1992, The Branigar Organization, a subsidiary of Union Camp Corporation, purchased Champion Hills and built a strong foundation for the Club’s growth. By 2001, Champion Hills Club was entirely member-owned. Today, Champion Hills is counted among the premier golf communities in the Southeast, distinguished by exceptional service, unforgettable golf and friendly, down-to-earth members.
